Hojas Rojas arose from the ashes of popular Twin-Cities folk-rockers The Leaves in 2005, bringing with them an innate ability to pen a catchy pop hook while remaining true to the fiery indie spirit they were birthed under. Band leader/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist D.J. Kukielka- who was classically trained in piano as a youth- took his deep-seated love of electronica, rock and indie pop and a life-long yearning to forge a new, unclassifiable sound with Tim Hovanetz (drums), Chris Tures (bass), and T.J. Shaffer (guitar). Their most recent release, 2008’s“Helium” was produced and engineered by Eclectone artist Mark Stockert.
